Hi, I'm Alison!

It’s always about pets with me. Pets and the people who love them; so it’s no wonder throughout my lifetime I’ve matched up adoptable pets to family and friends, pet sat, dog walked, created a business up-cycling funky pet clothes, collars and hats for pets and created a pet fashion show fund raiser. Anything to remain connected to the pet world.

All About Me

Stepping into the role of pet author surprised even myself, Coming about after witnessing the aftermath of a client not returning home from vacation due to an accident happening abroad. This caused me to contemplate my own personal plans for my dogs in the event of unexpected illness, disability or death.  I searched social media for pet wills and things a pet caregiver should do and know. I found very little and started creating my own notes. Also, Around this time, my Aunt happened to pass away leaving her beloved dog Ruby with no specific contingency plans. Ruby lives a charmed life today, but at the time, when grieving was taking place and a funeral was being planned, not many people had time to answer my question “whose going to take care of Ruby?” So with all these questions running around in my mind, Love In A PetBook was created.

Funny how a book initially based on bequeathing your pet to a caregiver developed into so much more. There are actually four other uses for Love In A PetBook as well:

  1. A pet sitter/house sitters dream book - all your pets info is right there.

  2. Overnight pet stays in a kennel - any question by staff is answered on these pages.

  3. Shelters & Pet foster facilities - this book should follow any surrendered pet into an animal shelter to better accelerated their chance of adoption.

  4. A keepsake book should your pet leave you before you leave them.

I envision a future where every pet household has their own PetBook and every animal shelter incorporates Love In A PetBook for every pet in their facility to greatly accelerate the adoption process. This book can aid in matching families to pets; letting them know quickly whether a pet is a good match for their household or not.

In the meantime you’ll find me giving pet tips, teaching pet parents how to paddleboard with their pets, giving talks about Love In A PetBook or just marveling about the amazing creation pets and their unconditional love give us.
